Charlaine Harris

As most people who watch the hit series True Blood know, it is based off the hit Sookie Stackhouse series. But while the show continues to take off and sets new records, the author is finding herself shoved deeper into the world of her books with an increasing level of popular for the written series as well.

While she does admit the show has helped to bring her more money, it has also increased the amount of time that she spends on doing everything but writing. In fact, there have been more interviews and television appearances since her books have increased in popularity.

But even as she continues to hustle around preparing for the future events such as the World Fantasy Convention that she will appear at in October, she does want to note that Comic Con is a different experience in itself. Back in 2008 she made her first appearance with the True Blood cast and was nervous because at the time she didn’t know many of them.

That was of course combined with the fact that she didn’t have anyone to confide in. However, the Mysterious Galaxy staff was more than happy to help her out and even took the time to give her a tour before the event started. This made the experience even easier for her and gave her some insight into the actual process of putting on such a huge convention.

Then later in the day, she found herself sharing the room with a very successful actor. That was Samuel L. Jackson and as the author states it was a supremely cool experience for her to have had. That of course was only one of the things that she really enjoyed about this experience. The other was the fact that individuals dressed up like Vikings dropped by the True Blood desk.

While she will be absent from this year’s Comic Con, she is sure that there is going to be plenty of exciting things that come on. In fact, she is sure that the True Blood panel is going to be another popular event that will be fun to experience. She wishes she could just show up and check it out from a spectator level, but that isn’t in the cards this year because of commitments that were made prior to the date of the convention.

There is no doubt though that there are going to be a number of chances for her to experience Comic Con in the future though. With  the series set to continue on past Season 4 and more books in the works, there is certainly no chance that Charlaine Harris is going to continue to be welcomed to the future Comic Cons as well. That should give the author some peace of mind and something to look forward to if she is able to find a break in her never ending busy schedule.
