Stephen Moyer’s love of acting started in local theatre in Essex, England with his theatre company of his own called ‘The Reject Society’. Stephen’s professional acting career started on stage (‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Columbus’) with the RSC and ‘The Iron Man’ rock opera of Pete Townshend at The Young Vic. British TV credits include ‘Men Only’ in 2001, ‘Lilies’ in 2007 and ‘Empathy’ in 2007. His screen debut was in ‘Prince Valiant’ in 1997, and was followed by the movie ‘Quills’ in 2000. Subsequent movies included ‘Entrusted’ in 2003 and ‘Restraint’ in 2008. United States TV credits include ‘Princess of Thieves’ in 2001 and ‘Uprising’ in 2001. Sookie is a quirky barmaid who has a special gift of being able to read minds. Her hometown is in Bon Temps, Louisiana and her ability has left her feeling like the proverbial outcast. She feels alone. Not only that, but her parents also died while she was still young. She feels disconnected from the small-mindedness of the town, particularly when Bill, the new vampire in the town is greeted by the townsfolk with very suspicious eyes. Sookie cannot read the mind of Bill, and she finds comfort in this as it makes their interactions a lot more natural. The torrid romance that ensues raises a lot of eyes around the small town and causes quite a few headaches as each person attempts to play a part in each other’s world.
Bill is a vampire who is 173 years old. At one time he was in the Confederate army fighting the Civil War. He is now coming back to the home of his family at Bon Temps to hopefully reconnect with his humanity. His vampire impulses are tested with Sookie and their relationship, though. Even when keeping his bloodlust under control he still has to deal with the vampires, the humans and the others for wanting to get closer to Sookie for both evil and good purposes.
Tara is a feisty girl who has a tough demeanor and quick temper that has been the result of looking after her mother who is an alcoholic. She and Sookie have been best friends since childhood. She tends the bar where Sookie also works so Tara and Sookie will now be able to spend more time together. However, Sookie cannot always be there for her friend because she and Bill are now in a relationship. Tara’s own life is chaotic with her bad attitude, her unsteady love life and her mother.
